Events – What’s on in Oswestry and the Borderlands of Shropshire and Wales.
Oswestry and the Borderlands of Shropshire and Wales have been described as “Fest Fabulous’, there are so many events on during the year- art, food, literature, music, drama – you choose.
The return of the highly anticipated Hot Air Balloon Festival in August is a must see – with hot air balloons being launched from Oswestry’s Cae Glas Park. The July Food and Drink Festival always draws the crowds and as it is in the town centre streets, it’s free. Heritage Open Days in September sees the town step back in time to celebrate its history with a wide range of activities for all to enjoy. For a one day countryside extravaganza don’t miss Oswestry Show in August and for flowers galore choose between the renowned Shrewsbury Flower Show and the fragrant Sweet Pea Festival in Wem.
2018 will see many events commemorating the end of World War I and Oswestry will play its part remembering the short life of poet Wilfred Owen with a week long festival. One of the highlights will be the unveiling of a statue to him in the town park.
