Take another day out and travel south, stopping at the border village of Llanymynech to visit the old Lime Works and the canal. You’ll get a fascinating and unusual view of our industrial heritage here at the Hoffman Kiln. Staying locally? You may be lucky and catch one of the LADs performances, this local amdram group put on a great selection of shows throughout the year.
A climb awaits now and the views are worth it! Breidden Hill topped by Rodney’s Pillar soars 350 metres over the valley looking towards the market town of Welshpool.
This market town now is in Wales. Nestled beneath the majestic Powis Castle and Gardens, the town is also home to the Welshpool and Llanfair light railway.
There is a fascination collection of model cars not far away in another lovely town, don’t miss the Cloverlands Museum at Montgomery.
