Oswestry Borderland Tourism is the only organisation that exists solely to promote Oswestry, Shropshire and Welsh Borderlands as a visitor destination. We do that by running Oswestry TIC in the Visitor & Exhibition Centre, producing the brochure – Oswestry, what to see, do and where to stay – and designing, maintaining and promoting this web site www.oswestry-welshborders.org.uk. OBT also promotes Oswestry and the Borderlands with regular social media posts on Twitter and Facebook – @OswestryTourism. We liaise with other organisation such as Oswestry Town Council, Oswestry BID, Shropshire Tourism and Shropshire Council on all tourism related matters.
Oswestry Borderland Tourism iLtd. is a not for profit organisation and, with the help of our staff in the Tourist Information Centre, is managed by a board of members who volunteer their time to help promote Oswestry and The Borderlands.
For 2019 we will produce 35,000 copies of the brochure- Oswestry, what to see, do and where to stay, an increase of 5000 from 2018. This year 19,000 have gone to a national distribution company and the remainder are distributed locally throughout Oswestry Town and attractions and venues in the area.
This web site was re-launched in June 2016 with lots of new sections describing the area and more sections for accommodation providers including dog friendly and wedding venues. We also promote members via Facebook and Twitter especially any special events or special offers that they may offer.
Membership is £65 per year. Basic membership includes a line entry in the brochure and one page on the web site e.g. Hotel, restaurant, attractions etc. Enhanced memberships are also available with display adverts in the brochure, these have more entries on the web site.
