Local producers, independent food shops and markets in Oswestry

Local producers, independent food shops, micro breweries and local markets all celebrate the flavours of Oswestry and the Welsh Borders. Being a market town means that producers have brought their food to town for centuries and the tradition continues. Visit on market days, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and enjoy the street and indoor markets. There are traditional butchers and veg stalls and the cakes and sweets stalls are definitely scrummy.
The annual Food and Drink Festival takes place over 2 days in July and hosts a wonderful mix of the traditional and unusual food stalls right through the town centre streets. Wander through, listen to the music and then stroll over to the flower filled park for a family picnic. Oswestry Food and Drink Festival – fun, free and fabulous!
There’s an award-winning brewery and distillery on the edge of town. What began as a micro-brewery with a few special ales is now an award-winning venue where you can taste the ales, enjoy a snack and take the dog. The next-door distillery is gearing up to release its very first whisky and is already well known for its gin. Once the rail link from the local heritage railway opens in 2020 there will be a very pleasant afternoon outing to plan from town and back again!
