Visit Oswestry this Christmas – there is so much to see and do. Looking for a more special way of Christmas shopping or how about a night out in town? Oswestry – the market town in North West Shropshire on the Welsh border is alive with Christmas cheer!
Any day is perfect to browse round the lovely local, independent shops in town but come at weekends in December and there is free parking on the Oswestry Town Council car parks every weekend leading up to Christmas.
Indie shopping is fun in Oswestry – you will be spoilt for choice – a proper bookshop, fab kitchen shop, an Aladdin’s cave of ethnic gifts and your favourite picture perfectly framed? Explore the alleyways to discover more surprises – a cat shop that is purrfect or an art shop – perfect for your Christmas craft projects.
Visit our Visitor Information Centre in the Oswestry Visitor & Exhibition Centre – the Christmas Craft shop is full of unusual gifts and you might be there when one of the local school choirs are singing. A coffee and mince pie now – just perfect!
Looking for more work by our local artists? Don’t miss Qube or Willow Gallery. After all that shopping you could need some refreshment? Oswestry has a lovely selection of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs – relax and enjoy.
Market days are magic – don’t miss the weekly street and indoor markets and there is the Artisan Market on December 20th, just in time for those special foodie treats for the big day.

To book phone 01691 662500. 27th/28th/29th December & 2nd/3rd January Mince Pie Tours of the Castle. These start at 12 noon and will include a walk around the grounds plus inside telling history and legends of the Castle. Price is £5 and this will include a mince pie/cake plus hot drink after to warm up! No need to book just turn up on the day. Whittington Castle will be open Wednesday to Sunday until 22nd December. Open Friday 27th until Sunday 29th December. Open 2nd until 5th January 2020 and then open all year Wednesday to Sunday 10-4pm. We do not close over the winter.
