Oswestry and The Borderlands of Shropshire and Wales are a beautiful destination for plant and nature lovers.
If you are in Oswestry, you can’t miss Cae Glas Park right in the centre of town. Winner in 2017 of the Large Town category at Heart of England in Bloom and a special award for the flower displays, the park glows through the summer with wonderful bedding displays.
From the grandest gardens at National trust properties such as Chirk Castle, Erddig House and Powis castles to the individual attraction of National Garden Scheme gardens such as Brownhill House at Ruyton- XI-Towns, Oswestry and the Borderlands offer a diverse mix of gardens to explore.
More than that though, if you prefer your planting on the wild side, take a trip to some of the tucked away spots such as Ifton Meadows or Jones Rough and you may be in time to see the spring time masses of wild garlic or even spot a wild orchid.
There are woodland walks and interesting plant centres all around Oswestry and don’t miss the annual Sweet Pea Festival in Wem or Shrewsbury Flower Show.
