Borderland Visual Arts, a thriving artists’ community based in Oswestry and the Borders, was formed in 1999. There are approximately 60 members working in a vast range of disciplines including painting, textiles, sculpture, photography, woodcarving, glass, pottery and printmaking. Each artist has solo shows as well as the group exhibitions, and there is a dedicated gallery space in Oswestry library with work changing monthly. A number of the artists have work on display in the Willow Gallery, Willow Street, Oswestry.

The BVA website has details of current and future exhibitions as well as a gallery of all members work. From the website, you can contact the artists and even arrange visits to their studios. You can subscribe to occasional event emails, and perhaps apply for membership yourself. The BVA also share information on our artists, events, and other art related items on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Each summer, in June, the BVA holds its flagship event, Open Studios, where many of the artists open their working studios to the public. An accompanying group exhibition, at the Willow Gallery, presents a rich variety of work by emerging and established artists, with a further, smaller exhibition in Oswestry Library. Most of the works on display are for sale, making this a great opportunity to buy an original piece of artwork at an affordable price. Open Studios provides a perfect opportunity to see work by local artists, who hope to inspire  visitors to express their own creativity.

Admission to all BVA events and exhibitions is free.
