| Join us for the very special 2012 Wenlock Olympian Games. It was in 1850 that the first ever Olympian Games were held in Much Wenlock. The brainchild of Dr William Penny Brookes, the games inspired re-birth of the modern Olympic Games in 1896. The Wenlock games continue to be held on the original field every July attracting competitors from all over the UK. |

| The Eckford Sweet Pea Society, in 2012 welcomes the National Sweet Pea Society with its Late Show to Wem. Seventy five competitive classes include Formal Vases, Bowls, Baskets, Special section for Victorian Old Fashioned varieties, Floral Art, Children's section and Decorated Shops and Businesses and an Extensive Display of Wem History in Photographs, cuttings and memorabillia in St Peter & St Paul Parish Church, to include the Eckford family history. |
